New Tekken game teased as Evo 2022 came to a close

At the end of this year’s Evo fighting game tournament, there was a very brief teaser for a new Tekken. Put onto the end of a video detailing updates to Tekken 7 and info on the Tekken World Tour. The teaser starts with Kazuya’s ending from the first game. Then, as Kazuya cheekily smirks at the camera (after tossing his dad off a cliff), it smash-cuts to a far more realistic Kazuya as an announcer says “Get Ready”.
You can watch the teaser and preceding trailer below:
Following the teaser, series director Katsuhiro Harada ran up to the commentators, shook them, and then left.
There’s already been speculation on what the teaser might be announcing. The most common theory is that it’s Tekken 8, which is about due given that its been 7 years since 7’s release in 2015. It could even be a Tekken 1 remake, given that it came after a cutscene from the original. However, there’s been no official word on what it is, so at this point it could be anything.
If you want a little more to grab onto, the Twitter account for The Game Awards quickly reshared the photo of new Kazuya with the caption “GET READY”. This could mean we’ll get more info at The Game Awards, which is usually held at the beginning of December.
