The Breaking Bad statues have now been erected – here’s the photos

Gilligan’s gift to Albuquerque – bronze statues of Breaking Bad protags – have been unveiled

After their announcement earlier in July, Albuquerque has unveiled the Breaking Bad statues. The statues – bronze replicas of series protagonists Walter White and Jesse Pinkman – are on display at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The unveiling ceremony took place on Sunday, July 31st, with the actors of the characters: Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

Showrunner Vince Gilligan donated the statues to “return the favor” to Albuquerque. Since AMC filmed both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul in the New Mexico city. Gilligan commissioned the bronzes, sculpted by Trevor Grove, back in 2019. In a Facebook post, Grove thanks Gilligan for the opportunity to work on this project, as well as Cranston and Paul for “embracing this project from the start”. He also thanked the American Fine Arts Foundry for crafting the bronze statues from his sculptures of White and Pinkman.

The statues will remain open to the public in the Albuquerque Convention Centre, where they were unveiled. So, if you want to go see the infamous meth makers remade in bronze, it’s time to book a trip to Albuquerque!

Beyond Breaking Bad

Better Call Saul, the prequel series to Breaking Bad, is currently airing its final season. The latest episode, aired yesterday, August 1st, was titled “Breaking Bad” and introduces the former series’ protagonists for the first time in the prequel show.

There are two episodes left for Better Call Saul, with the finale airing on August 15th. These two episodes have the show’s creators, Gilligan and Peter Gould, in the director’s seat, with the ominous title “Saul Gone” reserved for the final episode.
