A Super Duper look at the future
With the next Fallout game a while away yet, we’ll be looking to the TV series to tide us over. Fortunately, we’ve got our first glimpses of the show so we know what we’ve got to look forward to. With new on-set photos from Collider, we can see a few things. Primarily the supermarket chain from the games: the Super Duper Mart.
The mart first appeared in Fallout 3 near Megaton, the first big town encountered by the Lone Wanderer. After not appearing in Fallout: New Vegas, it saw a return in Fallout 4 with a few locations sporting the Super Duper Mart branding.
The Fallout TV series reportedly began filming in June, and these new set photos back-up that claim. The pictures show the run-down mart boarded up with corrugated metal and wooden planks. Surrounding it are just a few rusted retro-futuristic cars that often populate streets in the games. Check out all the set photos below:
At the moment, we don’t know much about the show. We’ve got some cast members, which includes Twin Peaks‘ Kyle MacLachlan. And we’ve got the show’s working title, which is “Hondo”. While it’s not clear how this relates to Fallout (or if it’s just a random name to throw people off), some speculate a connection to the 1953 western film of the same name. This could suggest that the series will be western-inspired, much like the beloved spinoff, Fallout: New Vegas. It’s so fondly remembered by fans, they even organised a meet-up to celebrate the game in the real-world Goodsprings earlier this month.
