The Lord of the Rings prequel show: The Rings of Power, gets new trailer ahead of September 2nd release

The new trailer for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power focused around an encroaching darkness that threatens Middle-earth. Centering on a younger Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo), we get glimpses of different civilizations in the fantasy world. From the high-up kingdom of the Elves to the deep mines of the dwarves. Galadriel warns that some shadowy threat is lingering in Middle-earth, with Elrond trying to claim otherwise. Galadriel asserts “You have not seen what I have seen” as we get glimpses of the ruination she has seen.
It’s not yet fully clear what the show’s main plot will be. However, this trailer showed us quite a bit of the world and its denizens. Alongside the previously mentioned dwarves and elves, we see the humble “fields of grain” of humans, as well as Harfoots, a predecessor of sorts to Hobbits. While everyone’s role in the plot is not yet clear, no doubt it will include the various civilizations uniting in some way against a common foe.

We also see a blazing object fly through the air and crash into the ground which, according to Variety, contains a man. This was revealed in an Amazon Prime exclusive 60-second sneak peek which was available last week.
More Middle-earth to come
The show, developed for Amazon Prime, was announced last August. Getting the rights to The Lord of the Rings set Amazon back a cool $250 million. So, I’d wager this is the first of many Lord of the Rings shows and movies made for the corporation. This series alone is set to have 5 seasons, so there’s a good chance not all threads will be wrapped up within the 8 episodes of season 1.
