Cracked version of early Skate 4 build leaks as insider playtesting starts rolling out

Some fans can’t wait for Skate 4, so much so they’re getting their hands on a leaked early build

A couple weeks ago, on June 30th, the team behind Skate 4 uploaded the “Still Working On It” video. This video showed “pre-pre-pre-alpha” gameplay with the message that they’d been taking on fan feedback. This was also the announcement of the skate.insider program, a service which will roll out the pre-pre-alpha for playtesting over the next year.

However, some fans clearly don’t want to wait that long. A cracked early build of Skate 4 has found its way onto the internet. According to a blog post, this version is “from September 2021 and was never intended for external use”.

The post takes the leak in stride, saying the team “understands you’re excited to get into the game”. It describes the positive reaction to the game’s first gameplay video that the team admits was “nerve racking” to share. The good news is that the team have been “energized” by the kind messages directed at the trailer.

Keep on rollin’

Regarding the leaks, the team “encourage you to be careful when downloading files from unknown sources”. They then give a quick reminder of “potential consquences of breaking EA’s Terms of Service”, which includes a blanket ban across all EA services if you’re caught playing this leaked version. Still, this hasn’t stopped some users from uploading early footage online. If you’re a Skate fan and you want to play the game earlier than release, your best bet is signing up for the insider playtesting, lest you invoke the ire of EA.
