The birdman himself confirmed on a live stream that Vicarious Visions planned further remakes before the merge
2020’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 was a welcome return of the classic skating franchise to many. It quickly became the fastest-selling game in the series, showing just how many fans were waiting for a new THPS. Following the remake’s release and success, people were no doubt expecting remakes of other Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. Not just 3 and 4, but also the entries in the Underground series as well.
However, soon after the release of Pro Skater 1 + 2, Activision made Vicarious Visions a subsidiary of Blizzard. Here, they worked on various Diablo projects, including Diablo IV. In April of this year, Activision fully merged Vicarious Visions into Blizzard and renamed the studio Blizzard Albany.
Since VV were made a subsidiary of Blizzard, it was all but confirmed that we weren’t getting any future THPS remakes. However, we finally got confirmation from Hawk himself during a livestream from andyTHPS, or Andy Gentile, former senior designer at Vicarious Visions.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Split-up
In the livestream, Hawk says “I wish I could say that we had something in the works but, Vicarious Visions kinda got disbanded and, Activision’s going through all their stuff, so. I don’t know what’s next.”
After this, Gentile says “if there’s a 3 and 4 or whatever, you know how to reach me”, to which Hawk responds “I mean, that was the plan, you know. Even up until the release date of [Pro Skater 1 + 2], we were going 3 and 4”.
Hawk then goes on to say how Activision let other studios pitch THPS remakes but “didn’t like anything they heard”.

So, ultimately, Activision didn’t want Vicarious Visions on the project but didn’t want anyone else on it either. And, as things stand, it’s looking like there’s no plans for any future Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games, sorry skaters.
