Rejoice! As a brand new teaser trailer was released regarding a new Hunger Games movie and, more importantly, when it’s set. Although very little can be seen in the short teaser, it has been worked out that the movie will be set a long time before the book trilogy and four films as found out on the Empire news section.
Director Francis Lawrence returns to direct the newest film, which stars Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth playing the two protagonists. They are named Coriolanus Snow (played by Tom Blyth) as the last hope of a failing lineage after a post-war Capitol. And Lucy Gray Baird (played by Rachel Zegler) who is the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. The film will follow the story of Snow being forced to mentor Lucy in the leadup to the 10th annual Hunger Games.
Of course, due to it being a prequel, fans have already sussed out the meaning behind the title of the film, The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, as the reason behind Lucy’s involvement. Being down to a defiant singing during the reaping ceremony and becoming the Songbird part of the pair. And if you figured out that Coriolanus Snow goes on to become President Snow, then I guess you know who the Snake is, don’t you?
The Hunger games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes comes to cinemas on 17 November 2023.
