The new Pokémon trailer shows off new creatures, zones, and gameplay features

Today, June 1st, Nintendo dropped the second trailer for the new entries in the Pokémon series, named Scarlet and Violet. The trailer shows off an open world like the one in the recently released Pokémon Legends: Arceus, with the ability to sneak up on and catch Pokémon out in the field. Battles also seem to take place in this seamless open world.
The trailer also teases multiplayer, with up to four people being able to play together at once. It then shows the four players splitting off in four different directions, implying that there’s people playing together won’t have to stick close by.
Further shown off in the trailer is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s starters: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. The Game Freak showed off the three newcomers in the game’s first trailer a few months back. Scarlet and Violet look to go to a wealth of different areas. The trailer gives glimpses of a grassy area, a snowy one, a seaside one, and a cavernous one, among others.
The trailer ends with a look at Scarlet and Violet’s respective legendary Pokémon, with two dragon-like creatures with colours matching their games’ respective theme. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set to release worldwide on November 18th, 2022.

You can watch the full trailer here.
The last new entries in the series were 2019’s Sword and Shield, which both released on the Switch. Since then, we’ve had remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, as well as Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which these new entries seem to take some gameplay elements from.
