Rowan Atkinson returns to Slapstick comedy In Man vs Bee

Mr Bean turned Mr Bee

Rowan Atkinson is back for a Netflix series that will see the beloved comedic actor facing down his biggest challenge yet. The trailer for Man Vs Bee has now been released, with a lot of positive feedback. The series comes with a straightforward premise, a man goes to war with a bee in his house, and things end up getting very out of hand, in the iconic Rowan Atkinson-y way we know and love. The trailer see’s Atkinson shine in his usual habitat of physical humor, even when he’s acting against a CGI bumblebee.

The teaser shows Atkinson as Trevor, who looks rather pleased with himself as he lands a job looking after a plush house. We begin to see the start of the chaotic spiral that will be when he swats at a bee and ends up breaking one of the owner’s pieces of art.

A courtroom scene opens the trailer, as Trevor is appearing in court as a result of the chaos and destruction caused by the bee attack. This sizzle reel consists of action scenes featuring car chases, Trevor blowing up the house with a flamethrower as we see Trevor try to blame the destruction on a simple Bee. There will be more to Trevor’s life and circumstances that will get pulled into the conflict he has with the bee but eventually, Trevor might become psychotic, like Joker as a result of the sheer frustration and anger.

A tidy 90 minutes of Atkinson being terrorized by a bee and causing chaos in his wake is one thing, but a nine-episode series is completely different. It will be interesting to see how the story will move from episode to episode and how the momentum will be kept up. We’ll just need to wait until the series hits Netflix in June.

Although the teaser doesn’t give us many looks at the ensemble cast, it will be made up of Jing Lusi, Claudie Blakley, Tom Basden, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Greg McHugh, and India Fowler.

Did you enjoy this chaotic trailer? Will you be watching the series when it drops to Netflix? Let us know in the comments below.
