Idris Elba Takes On King Of The Jungle In Beast Trailer

Beast pits Idris Elba against a fierce lion out for revenge

idris elba beast

Idris Elba is the starring in the trailer of the new thriller Beast. Where he goes on a family vacation only to be hunted by a wild lion that has been traumatised by poachers. Elba goes on holiday to the South African Savanna with his family, the same place he first met his wife. A long-planned trip with their daughters to a game reserve, managed by Martin Battles (played by Shartlo Copley from Russian Doll), an old family friend and wildlife biologist.

Elba plays Nate, a man who hopes the trip’ll be a chance for him to reconnect with his loved ones. But sure enough things don’t quite go to plan, as they rarely do. Unfortunately, the wildlife has decided that the family would make a great meal, and not even their jeep can offer refuge from a blood-lusty lion.

While the lion certainly seems to be the film’s main antagonist, it’s crucial to remember that every villain has an origin story. For the lion, it simply wants revenge on humanity due to the poachers’ cruelty. This ferocious feline not even bothering to eat the victims it kills.

The trailer’s start is deceiving, as it gives the sense that this is a loving, family-friendly movie about reconnection and coming together during a time of grief. The two daughters acting alongside Elba are Meredith and Norah who are played by Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries.

Not so cowardly now

Beast is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, with a screenplay penned by Ryan Engle, based on an original story by Jaime Primak Sullivan. Sullivan serves as executive producer on the film alongside Bernard Bellew with Universal Pictures producing the film.
