Norman Reedus Claims Death Stranding 2 In Development

During an interview with Leo Edit, Norman Reedus, the actor who played Sam in Death Stranding, has stated that work on Death Stranding 2 has just begun!

And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that.

Despite the initial mixed response to Death Stranding, the game’s release seems to have been a success both financially and culturally. Yet, whilst game critics and content creators both applaud the writing, sound design and visuals, they disagree on gameplay quality.

The main complaint that players have with Death Stranding is the core gameplay loop. The term “walking simulator” is echoed across reviews as the majority of missions had you merely going from point A to B.

That said, there was fun to be found according to positive reviews. Maybe the gameplay is an acquired taste. With the development of the second entry, perhaps Sony sees potential in Kojima’s concept of the “Strand type” genre. With how polarizing this game has been, it’s a surprise that the IP hasn’t been abandoned.

There has been no official statement nor indication from either Sony or Hideo Kojima confirming that development has begun. However, with the Summer Game Fest around the corner, we may see more information about it.
