Winstead’s joining the cast confirms a previous report that Disney cast her in an unspecified role in Ahsoka. Winstead will appear in the series alongside Rosario Dawson, who reprises her role as the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

The Star Wars franchise has been with McGregor since 1999, but Ahsoka is Winstead’s first intergalactic trip. First appearing in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film, Ahsoka Tano was introduced as the Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka has since made several additional appearances throughout the Star Wars franchise, including the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
Rumours, reports, and speculation do point to Ahsoka continuing a plot thread started in Rebels. With Ahsoka and Wren searching the galaxy for Grand Admiral Thrawn and their friend Ezra Bridger. Filoni agreed that he wants Ahsoka’s story to keep moving forward.

The Ahsoka TV series will premiere on Disney+ in 2023. Fear not, as fans will still be getting some new Star Wars content and can look forward to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan will premiere with two episodes on May 27th this year. Andor, the series involving the spy who appeared in Rogue One, will be launching sometime in late summer 2022.
