Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. If you’ve seen the leaks, you know Multiversus going to be a absolutely ridiculous game, if pulled off right. A game where Ultra Instinct Shaggy (Yeah that’s right) can face off Steven from Steven Universe (No, really) is going to be fun. Especially since Warner Bros is accepting the huge meme potential of it’s cast figuring that the Iron Giant just got confirmed for the roster. And Smash fans believed Ridley was too big…
Since the initial announcement in November, fans have had their theories about who would end up in the final game. And due to Warner Bros’ huge list of properties they own, it might be possible to have Gandalf cast Lebron James off the top of Zirakzigil.
But maybe I’m getting ahead of myself.
The trailer we got is very Smash Bros-y but showcases a lot of the characters that will be playable including: Batman, Shaggy, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, Jake from Adventure Time as well as Tom and Jerry, Tasmanian Devil and Bugs Bunny to name a few.
How do I join the madness?
As for when you can play this yourself, Multiversus’ closed alpha is from 19th-27th May. It features 15 characters, 7 maps and a bunch of game modes to try out. You can find a way of getting into it yourself here, which gives details on how to enter the alpha and try the game out before anyone else does.
If the above image doesn’t seem to invoke any reaction in you then this game isn’t for you. The idea and novelty of crossovers and crossover fighting games is to tickle that bit of your brain that just asks “Hey wouldn’t it be cool if…”. I mean, at this point Mulitversus is very slowly edging into Fanfiction levels of ridiculousness due to the sheer scale of the Warner Bros extended universe. However, in a year where we have had many awesome multiverse media pieces, it’s nice to see one not take itself seriously at all. Sadly there has been no official release date but it comes to all platforms at some point.
