Bethesda’s hotly anticipated space-RPG Starfield was set to come out on November 11th, 2022

Bethesda announced in a twitter post today, May 12th, that they have delayed Starfield and Redfall to the first half of 2023. The studio announced Starfield at E3 2018 and showed off a teaser for it in June of last year. On the other hand, Arkane showed off a cinematic trailer for Redfall last year, teasing a dynamic vampire FPS.
“The teams at Arkane Austin and Bethesda Game Studios have incredible ambitions for their games,” the post says. “We want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”
“We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating.”
The post ends with the company teasing gameplay reveals for both games soon. “We can’t wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon.”

In a quote tweet on Arkane’s Twitter account, Redfall creative director Harvey Smith says “The team needs more time to bring the game to life. Thank you so much for your continued support. Redfall is our most ambitious game yet, and we can’t wait to show it off soon.”
Starfield and Redfall: what we know
Starfield is notable for being the first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda in over 25 years. Set in space, the game will see players exploring a galaxy in a game that Bethesda director Todd Howard has described as “like Skyrim in space.“
While we don’t know much yet about Redfall, we do know that it will be an open-world, co-op focused FPS. No doubt, Arkane is eager to show off more of the game, and we may well see it at the Xbox & Bethesda showcase next month.
