Something something “delayed game is eventually good”

Tweets by Illumination and Nintendo this morning have confirmed that Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. film has been delayed to April 2023. The film would have released this year, on December 21st. Now, the film will release on April 7th in North America and April 28th in Japan.
The tweet by Illumination shows a statement from the film’s producer, Chris Meledandri. “Miyamoto-san and I have been collaborating on all aspects of the Super Mario Bros. film,” he states. Similarly, Shigeru Miyamoto released a statement on Nintendo’s twitter accounts.
Neither Nintendo nor Illumination have said much about the film. Nintendo revealed the film’s bizarre voice cast back in September of last year. However, there have been no trailers, indicators of a plot, or even what the film will look like.
Maybe they just need more time to render Waluigi’s moustache?
