Among us was arguably one of the most popular mobile games of 2018 and has been played by many ever since. We got a good look at Among Us VR as part of the 2022 Meta Quest gaming showcase. Plus, developers InnerSloth, Schell Games, and Robot Teddy confirmed that it will be coming to the Quest 2 by the end of the year, So let’s hope that it is well worth the wait.
A new trailer was unveiled showing some of us some very wild meetings, followed by a brief tour of the famous Skeld Map – a tour that abruptly ends when a dead crewmate is found. Although we didn’t get an insight into what tasks there would be or if crewmate roles are coming to Among Us VR, it is confirmed that we can mash a classic big red emergency meeting button when things get tense.
The dynamics of the new VR version of the game look like they are completely different from the Among Us we know and love. Certain changes to the well-known game are a given as it will be a completely different platform that it will be played on.
Naturally, being VR, it shifts the perspective to first-person rather than a top-down view. You’ll still be running around the level to complete tasks, but you won’t be able to see if there’s a potential impostor right behind you which will be interesting to see. One thing that is worth mentioning is that you’ll be able to point fingers at sus crewmates during the voting phase, which could prove to be a hilarious addition.

The success and popularity of Among Us make it an obvious candidate for some form of expansion. Cuphead, Minecraft, and It Takes Two have all either received TV or film projects already or have them in the works. Among Us has branched out into a manga and animated YouTube series but hasn’t pushed beyond that yet.
Seeing this game come to VR could be the refresh needed to make the popular mobile game a household name again. What do you think about Among Us coming to VR? Let us know in the comments below.
