Building has been a big part of Fortnite since the release of the game back in 2017, but with a new no-build-mode introduced in Chapter 3 Season 2, we could well be looking at a new era for the game!
Bases, walls, and stairs are crucial for defence and reaching high places and these can only be created using the building process. Materials including wood, stone, and metal are crucial for building and will need to be gathered if none are stored in the player’s inventory.
Fortnite’s classic build mode was removed at the start of the recent season, but will more than likely make a return within a week or so. However, it looks like it could be reintroduced with a new ‘no building’ option with it.
Epic‘s choice to keep the no build mode could see a lot of gamers return to Fortnite, since it’s already seen an influx of returning fans, which has placed it close to its peak player count.

Dataminer Hypex found an updated loading screen saying “In modes with building enabled”, which implies that Epic is planning to keep the game mode around a while longer.
Fellow dataminer Twea has also spoken on Epic’s building mode mystery, having revealed that building can be turned on or off in the Solo, Duo and Trio modes featured in the game.
Epic has a history of trialling new game modes in Fortnite, where if they then become a big success they usually keep them as a permanent feature.
Building modes aside. An honourable mention has to go to Epic’s efforts to support Ukraine; raising over $50 million (£38m) so far for the cause.
Epic’s plan is to give all profits from the game until April 3rd to humanitarian causes in Ukraine. Microsoft also agreed to waive its platform fees until then so the maximum amount of money can be raised.
