Things We’d Like To See In Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2!

Bravo Six, going dark!

Call of Duty has been a true juggernaut of a franchise for years; even managing to survive its only downfall with all the ‘futuristic era’ games that saw its fanbase not only decline but also split in half.

CoD’s ‘bounce back’ started with Modern Warfare which was oddly poetic since the original Modern Warfare was what catapulted the series into the giant we know and love today. With Modern Warfare 2 coming this year (name not confirmed yet) we thought we would take a look at both the Multiplayer and Campaign and compile a small wish list for both.

Campaign

All together now

Modern Warfare’s story was certainly solid and a very enjoyable experience for some and there isn’t much we’d change with it. Especially with how it ended and began to set up the next instalment. This clip still gives me goosebumps to this day!

And so it begins…again!

Any avid Modern Warfare fan will know that Soap originally founded Taskforce 1-4-1 and also that Gaz was long since dead by then so this confirms that we are seeing a different version of the Modern Warfare story. With that being said, we also need to find out if MW2’s campaign will also take Warzone’s story into mind. For those unaware of that, you can find all the cutscenes here which also contain a few old friends from the originals too!

No Paparazi!

So, factoring in the Warzone story, one of the Zakhaevs has been taken out which leaves Al Asad, Makarov and the other Zakhaev in terms of previous villains, and of course, we can’t leave out the infamous General Shepherd now, can we?! Of course, like Barkov the door is always open to the idea of new antagonists and protagonists. Any adventure featuring the likes of Soap, Price, Gaz, Ghost, Alex and even Griggs would be an amazing feat, and just having those characters be a part of the story is good enough for some people. You could take all of the beloved characters and have them fight against anyone and as long as it makes sense, people will enjoy it. The only thing in terms of a wishlist for the campaign is that it features all our favourite characters! Infinity Ward always seems to know what to do in terms of a campaign so I wholeheartedly trust them with this one!

Multiplayer

In terms of multiplayer, there is always lots of things that can be added. Just to start with guns alone the two ‘legacy’ guns I’d love to see make a come back are the original ACR and the Peacekeeper! I have splendid memories using these in the original Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 2.

In terms of perks and equipment, I’m not sure which I’d like to bring back or even banish from existence as nowadays, any perk can find usage. A well-balanced perk system that can suit players of all styles is all the fanbase ever really wishes for. From players who like to focus on playing the objective, to players who like to play aggressively to the more reserved (campers!!) style of players. We have had some amazing games from Infinity Ward and depending on who you ask in the Call of Duty fanbase, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 2’s multiplayer was the peak of COD.

One hell of a lineup

As far as the playable operators go, a few people are against the usage of the campaign characters like Price and Gaz for example; I encourage the addition of these beloved characters as more time spent playing as/with them is just more time spent being attached to said character and characters you can’t get attached to are kind of pointless. As of writing, some of my fondest memories come from playing with my friends on this game and having our characters. For example, one of my friends always played as Price which just grew my attachment to the character and makes me care about him even more. It’s always heartwarming when someone tells me they see Gaz on the battlefield and immediately think of me because there was a time when I only played as him; I’d love to see the main characters appear in multiplayer! With two years of content to look forward to, the storyline of multiplayer/Warzone can be more fleshed out and allow the better use of both campaign and original characters. If I had to only wish for one of these, I’d wish that campaign characters are once again playable in Multiplayer.

Summary

So, to quickly summarise what was said; The ACR and Peacekeeper from MW2 & BO2 should make a return, the perks system should be all equally balanced to accommodate for every playstyle, and all campaign characters should be playable in multiplayer.
