Welcome to AEW Revolution! Last weekend saw the first major Pay Per View experience of the AEW calendar, and with it came an incredible onslaught of enticing matches. For anyone who failed to catch the event Live at 1 am (GMT) on Sunday Morning, please read on to see the tantalising results!
Britt Baker DMD (c) VS Thunder Rosa

Winner: Britt Baker
As someone who is only now starting to become a fan of Dr Baker, I had nothing but high hopes for her in this match, and she did not disappoint; the introduction of the new AEW women’s belt looks absolutely phenomenal and I can’t wait to see even more of it!

As far as the match itself; I personally enjoyed it, though after seeing some other opinions on it I will say it could have been better. The whole ‘heel character has helped to win matches’ shtick has been very overdone but as someone who is becoming a fan of Britt Baker more and more by the passing weeks, I’m interested to see who’s going to step up to her and attempt to take that title off of her.
Tay Conti VS Jade Cargill (c)

Winner: Jade Cargill
Anyone who is a part of wrestling Twitter couldn’t have logged on without seeing the kiss between these two at the beginning of their match, a fiery start to their battle to say the least!
I was already a fan of Tay Conti thanks to both my friends’ fondness of her as well as her appearance in the WWE during the Mae Young Classic. She has quickly become a huge favourite of mine thanks to my friend so I was certainly rooting for her and hoping she managed to capture the gold. Ultimately, I was gutted to see her lose, but blown away all the same by her feisty performance.
Eddie Kingston VS Chris Jericho

Winner: Eddie Kingston
Chris Jericho is one hell of a character and someone I used to enormously enjoy watching. Sadly that isn’t the case anymore, but I did learn that this was Eddie Kingston’s first win at a PPV and for some reason, I can’t help but feel super happy and proud for the guy!
Adam Cole (Bay Bay) VS Hangman Adam Page (c)

Winner: Adam Page
It’s bad that I know little about the two people in the main event but alas, it was still a good and enjoyable match. I am definitely one of those people who shouts ‘Adam Cole Bay-Bay’ once he appears! Again I had to rely on my friends’ reactions for this one and once again they seemingly enjoyed it so this was just the tip of the already amazing PPV’s iceberg!
CM Punk VS MJF

Winner: CM Punk
Getting into WWE in 2016 meant that I’d never seen much of CM Punk and never thought to go ahead and look back at his matches, so I went into this with an open mind since I knew nothing about either man apart from what I’d seen on the weekly shows. What I did already know though was that Punk is godly on the microphone and deserves all the hype surrounding him! The match was nothing short of a five-star match, and that says a lot for a match titled ‘dog collar match’. Although seeing two men with a dog collar on was certainly cringey, I guess it isn’t really wrestling without some absurd level of spectacle and gimmick. Seeing Wardlow turn on MJF wasn’t something I was overly hyped for because I wasn’t clued up on their relationship, but nevertheless, all my friends absolutely lost their minds over it!
Jon Moxley VS Bryan Danielson

Winner: Moxley
Jon Moxley was the very reason I started following AEW in the first place and honestly, every time I see a Moxley match I truly enjoy it. But to see him going up against Bryan Danielson?! Throw in some weapons and I think this has the potential to be one of the best matches I’ve ever seen! Sadly, no weapons were involved in this one but it was still a very bloody endeavour! The ending has been one that the fans have been talking about all day, seeing none other than Wiliam Regal come out and proceed to literally slap some sense into these two honestly made this whole PPV worth sitting up for alone! Is this a new tag team in the making? Will Regal be their manager? Honestly, I’m very excited to see the future of this story play out!
Keith Lee vs Wardlow vs Powerhouse Hobbs vs Ricky Starks vs Orange Cassidy vs Christian Cage

Winner: Wardlow
Seeing Keith Lee in AEW is an amazing sight and after seeing a lot of ‘Freshly Squeezed’ Orange Cassidy, I have to admit he is very likeable so personally, I wanted either him or Keither Lee to walk away victorious. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be but this was easily the best ladder match I have ever seen! My favourite part happened to be when Orange Cassidy pulled himself up onto the ladder to try and secure the victory!
Although Wardlow did ultimately pick up the win, I wasn’t rooting for him at all. I am now excited to see what’s next for my new favourites: Orange Cassidy and Keith Lee.
Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (c) vs. reDRagon vs. The Young Bucks

Winners: Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus
Honestly, I knew nothing about any of these people going into this. I had some familiarity with reDRagon since they used to be part of WWE’s NXT roster but other than that, I didn’t know any of these and honestly, I’ve never been too fond of tag teams so I can’t rate this match very highly but my friends seemingly enjoyed it so I’ll take their word that it was a very enticing match.
Matt Hardy, Andrade El Idolo & Isiah Kassidy vs. Sting, Darby Allin & Sammy Guevara

Winners: Sting, Darby & Sammy!
Again, I don’t know much about anyone in this match apart from Matt Hardy and Sting but that is just surface-level information. But in spite of my lack of familiarity, this was still quite an enjoyable match to watch. Darby’s Coffin Drop especially deserves high recognition for being one of the most original moves I’ve witnessed.
Final Thoughts
Being my first AEW PPV, I was certainly excited about this, especially with Moxley, Dr Baker, Orange Cassidy and Tay Conti on the match card! I had very high hopes it would be nothing short of amazing and thankfully all my hopes had all come true. It was definitely the first of many AEW PPVs I’ll be watching and I highly suggest that anyone who loves wrestling stay tuned for the next instalment!
