Earlier today, the Nier Automata development team had a livestream to update players on the state of the franchise and what projects are currently underway.
At the very end of stream, director Yoko Taro and producer Yosuke Saito released a short teaser trailer for the Nier Automata anime!
The trailer depicts concept art of the game’s protagonist, 2B and not much else. According to comments from Japanese players, the trailer does not divulge details about the plot. However, if it follows the game, expect machine-fueled mayhem, clashing blades and plenty of despair!
Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito have also stated that studio Aniplex will be in charge of production.

Aniplex has been in charge of several highly successful and beloved anime including Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba 鬼滅の刃), Fate/Stay night: Unlimited Blade Works and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Also announced was that Nier Automata will be collaborating with PUBG Studios’ newest battle royale game New State Mobile, marking yet another confusing out-of-place collaboration that the franchise has seen after Fall Guys and Gravity Rush.
That being said, a more fitting crossover event with Babylon’s Fall will also be taking place soon.
