Nintendo Direct Round Up!

The latest Nintendo Direct was a treasure trove of all things Nintendo for all its fans and what better way than to take a look and round up all things covered at this event!

Before we get started though, I’d like to thank our researcher Anna for gathering all this information for me! Now, without further ado, lets get into seeing just what Nintendo Direct had to offer us!

ADVANCE WARS 1+2 REBOOT CAMP (Releases April 8th)

After a delayed release, a  long-awaited remastered collection of two beloved Game Boy Advance games is coming to the Nintendo Switch. First released in 2001, these remasters includes various new features such as new voiceover lines, a custom map creator/ generator, as well as online and local multiplayer being introduced too. The turn-based war-themed game has not had a new addition to the franchise since 2008.

XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 3 – (Releases September 2022)

The third addition to a beloved franchise is coming to Nintendo Switch. It will continue the story after Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. In a world filled with larger than life war machines, it is one fans have been waiting for.

NINTENDO SWITCH SPORTS- (Releases April 29th)

The follow up to the popular Wii Sports series, this new inclusion strives to get us back to exercising with fun. The game looks fresh, with a more modern feel, and will have a beta test later this month. The sports available in the game will be the renowned favourites: tennis, bowling, chambara, as well as new sports such as volleyball, badminton and football/soccer. Play various sports online or locally with friends or family, or challenge other players to a game!

KIRBY AND THE FORGOTTEN LAND- (Releases March 25th)

Kirby is back in a brand new 3D adventure! In this vibrant, open world, Kirby travels through the ruins of abandoned structures and mazes of a past civilization. Kirby can take on new forms such as a car, a vending machine, and a lightbulb to defeat his enemies. With new in-game mechanics such as the very cute ‘Mouthful-Mode’, Kirby strives to save the captured Waddle Dees, restore peace, and rediscover this mysterious world. Fans have been very quick to draw and meme out the new Kirby functions!

MARIO STRIKERS: BATTLE LEAGUE FOOTBALL– (Releases June 10th)

Another much beloved string of the evergrowing Mario franchise, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is coming to Nintendo Switch. It has been 15 years since the last Mario Strikers game has released and has long been requested by fans. It incorporates Mario characters into football/soccer, with powerup moves for goals, as well as various Mario-related items to help players. With new features such as customization, and online play, It is one that you won’t want to miss!

EARTHBOUND & EARTHBOUND BEGINNINGS (AKA MOTHER AND MOTHER 2) – (Avaliable now!)

A cult-classic will be available on Nintendo Switch online. Ness, who stars in Nintendo’s other smash hit, Super Smash Bros, is on a quest with his friends, Paula, Jeff and Poo to fight the legendary Giygas. The news is bittersweet as the third game, Mother 3, has continually been requested to be officially released in the West.

Mario Kart 8 DLC

Something a lot of fans have wanted is a new Mario Kart game, but sadly that wasn’t the case. Instead, Nintendo announced an enourmous DLC package for Mario Kart 8 which will contain 48 new racetracks for the beloved kart racer. This will be handled by dropping six collections of tracks, each collection containing eight tracks! Sadly, this isn’t free as its said to cost $24.99 (£18.39), however those who have opted in for the Nintendo Switch Expansion Pack (which is roughly $49.99 / £36.80) will get this for no addtional cost.

Final Thoughts

That concludes Nintendo Direct 2022! Personally, I’m very excited to get my hands on Mario football and also the infamous Switch Sports! I for one have so many memories on Wii Sports and cannot wait for this generations follow-up!
