The start of the new year comes with the first of the typical big four WWE Pay Per Views; The Royal Rumble! With two royal rumbles each with 30 contestants, it makes for some great predictions as we all want the ultimate bragging rights of calling the winner.

Starting with the men’s Royal Rumble, I’m going to break this down to two picks. One is a fantasy pick and the other is what my head tells me is the more realistic pick.

My realistic pick is going to be none other than the Phenomenal one, AJ Styles. After his feud with Omos seems to be over, AJ is due another stint as a singles competitor and what better way to do this than to send AJ in the main title picture by winning the very event he once debuted in.
I’ve narrowed it down to three fantasy picks for the men’s royal rumble. They are; Shane McMahon the Best In The World (He has the trophy to prove it!), After it is reported that Shane is no longer on contract with the WWE it seems my favourite male wrestler might not be seen again for quite some time which is sad but imagine the scenes of Shane McMahon winning the Royal Rumble! I may be slightly biased in saying he is my favourite wrestler of all time.
My second fantasy pick is the legendary John Cena. I just want to see him break the record and become a seventeen-time champion! Even more so with Brock Lesnar as the current WWE Champion as who wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch between these two? Especially if it’s anything like their iconic 2012 Extreme Rules match and WWE has proven they can bring Cena back without us knowing last year when he showed up at Money In The Bank in 2021.
My last fantasy pick is The Great One, The Rock himself! Rumour has it that Dwayne has recently said he is more than open to returning to the squared circle as long as the storyline made sense. Well, what better storyline than to have The Dwayne return and win the royal rumble to go on and show Roman Reigns who the true head of the Anoa’i family is.
My realistic picks for the women’s Royal Rumble!
Firstly I’ve gone with Bayley, after being injured for quite some time, it might be about time for her to return and what better place to do it than the Rumble?!
My second pick is Alexa Bliss! After having a brief hiatus from the WWE why not have her win the Rumble and pick up right from where she left off in the women’s title scene?! I’m very much hoping that Alexa returns with an entirely new persona and hopefully leaving ‘Lily’ back in 2021!
My last pick is none other than the Queen, Charlotte Flair. Just because it’s a very WWE thing to do; having her win the Royal Rumble and go on to do absolutely nothing with such a huge win other than to boost her already enormous list of accomplishments.
My fantasy picks for the Women’s Royal Rumble are slightly more lengthy since I for one follow the Women’s side a lot more these days. Also, sidenote, Toni Storm WOULD have made this list had she been with the company still. I have a huge bias toward her and Tegan Nox, sadly both have been released but I felt they deserved a mention anyhow.
My first fantasy pick has gone to Paige! Someone who is quite local to me and also someone I fell madly in love with since her movie. She has countlessly teased a comeback like this tweet below for example.
My second fantasy pick was the Fearless One, Nikki Bella. After being announced on Monday Night Raw that she and sister Brie would be returning for this year’s Royal Rumble, what better way to give the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship belts s WrestleMania worthy match by having Nikki (Or Brie) win and challenge for the Tag Team Belts. Better yet, having Nikki win and go on to challenge Charlotte for the Smackdown Women’s title after their feud back in 2015?!

The Third fantasy pick is a little out there considering it wasn’t that long ago that she had a child but I’d personally like to see Ronda Rousey return to the WWE. She could go on to win the Royal Rumble and give either Charlotte or Becky a long overdue kicking. Sadly, it has been reported that whilst live streaming Ronda herself said she was unsure if she had a contract with the WWE and would need to ask her Lawyers to check if she really was or not.
My last pick is slightly realistic in the sense that she has been challenging for the Raw Women’s title for quite a while now and even has a match for the honour to face Becky Lynch AGAIN at the Royal Rumble but, it isn’t too much of a stretch to suggest Liv Morgan could lose that match or even the contenders match which is on tonight’s episode of Raw and go on to win the Rumble. Liv Morgan has been someone I’ve followed since her early NXT days and truly is someone I enjoy watching; I really do want her to win not only the Rumble but the following match at WrestleMania. Becky Lynch has felt stale for me and I want a change in champion to someone who isn’t one of the four horsewomen.
