When it comes to The CW Network, my first thoughts are that of the Arrow or Riverdale shows. However, it has been reported that joint owners WarnerMedia and Viacom CBS are exploring the idea of selling a significant stake of The CW Network, with NextStar Media Group the front runners to be the buyers as per The Wall Street Journal.

NextStar Media are America’s largest media company and are said to own a large number of affiliates of The CW Network. To further this, people close to this have said that an agreement could be reached relatively soon. One of the current ideas being thrown around is that NextStar Media will be the majority owner with both WarnerMedia and Viacom sticking around as minority shareholders.

All of this arises from the fact that WarnerMedia and Viacom have held discussions with potential ideas for The CW Network moving forward, as it isn’t profitable as a standalone broadcast entity. However, the content produced for the network is a valuable asset for other platforms. Much like how Riverdale is a valuable asset for Netflix despite being produced by Warner Brothers for The CW Network.

It’s hopeful that this deal will go through and The CW Network will switch hands. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments below! And stick with All Maverick for all your gaming & entertainment news.
