Those of us who are massive fans of Cyberpunk 2077 have something else to look forward to. Last night Netflix Geeked revealed a small description of a series they currently have in development named: Cyberpunk Edgerunners. A series that CD Projekt Red and a company called Trigger Studios which is handling the animation; for those unaware Trigger Studios originally founded by Hiroyuki Imaishi is known for Kill la Kill but more recently Star Wars Visions episodes three and seven!
After some digging, we have found out that this was all truly announced back in 2020 via a YouTube video announcement which tells us that the series will be set in Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City with its own standalone story separate from the game but it will be set within the same universe.
This universe will be complete with new characters and stories. An important thing to note is the confirmed gender of the main character being a male. Lately, it seems most series’ have an LGBTQ+ representation of some kind so time will only tell how this series will handle that.
Lastly, we have the released poster for Cyberpunk Edgerunners which is also seen in the YouTube videos thumbnail which shows seemingly the main male character.
