Mass Effect Series In The Works!

Fans of Mass Effect were greeted with the news from Deadline that Amazon is nearing a deal to see everyone’s beloved Commander Shepherd get a series of their own. It’s unknown how close this deal is to completion but for Amazon to announce its intentions, it must be going well.

For those unaware, Mass Effect is a science-fiction game that involves a protagonist Commander Shepherd and their goal to stop a machine race in their quest to invade the Milky Way. It was so successful that it spawned Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 as well as a mobile game and a spin-off named Mass Effect Andromeda. The series was hailed for its character choice system and overall plot.

However, not everyone is pleased about the idea of the much-loved game series getting a television adaptation. Former BioWare employee David Gaider explained his thoughts in a Twitter thread that the idea of a Mass Effect and Dragon Age series ‘makes me cringe’

I'm relieved to see that the Mass Effect/Amazon deal is for a potential TV series and not a movie. Even so, the possibility (and likewise for Dragon Age) makes me cringe just a little, unlike many fans who appear… excited?

Let me explain. (Thread)

Ultimately, there is no telling as to how close the deal between EA and Amazon is to completion which will see the Mass Effect series get the greenlight. Only time will tell if it will happen or if like many other attempts by Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures; it will fall through.

Set course for points unknown!

This should be interesting. I can’t think of a game to tv series that’s worked before.

It certainly will be interesting and I for one, am hoping this works out. The closest we have had is the Tomb Raider movies.
