New Ninjala Anime in Production

Left to Right: Lucy, Berecca, and Burton

As was revealed in the latest developer diary video, GungHo Online Entertainment has announced that a brand new Ninjala anime series is currently in development.

For those unaware, Ninjala is a free-to-play multiplayer action game on Nintendo Switch. The game centers around small ninjas using “ninja gum” to clobber each other in various cities, because what else would it be?

Despite some initial mixed reception due to being little more than a lackluster version of Splatoon, Ninjala has persisted nevertheless. Even today, it continues to receive updates and still has incessant support from a small but loyal fanbase.

We plan on delving further into the world of Ninjala in a new animated series

Ninjala Dev Diary #19

Whilst not the first anime that the series has seen, this new series is said to be “more involved” than the previous cartoon shorts on YouTube. The new anime will supposedly “dive deeper into the game’s colourful world”, and feature “Burton, Berecca and other characters”. To be honest, I didn’t even know they had names.

No more information is currently available beyond some basic concept art for the series. However, if the 3D short film that kickstarted the game is anything to go by, then a more detailed animated show could very well be a harmless fun addition to the franchise.

For any hardcore Ninjala fans reading (all 2 of you), then know that today also marks the start of the Cyber Monday 2021 Campaign, which offers players discounts on items, a Jala login bonus, and exclusive outfits in the Shinobi Shop and Gum Gacha. The campaign will run until 1st December, so best empty your ninja wallets now, because who needs presents this Christmas?

What do you think of this news? Will you be watching the new Ninjala anime? Did you know that Ninjala was still….a thing? Let us know in the comments!
