Kinetic Games earlier today (October 25th) announced a huge Phasmophobia update just in time for Halloween: which includes a haunted campsite map, new ghosts and difficulty changes as well as many other fixes.
Phasmophobia is an online 4 player co-op horror with VR support. Paranormal activity is on the rise and it is up to your team to investigate and end the nightmare. From the developer’s website, kineticgames.co.uk
This major game update delivers the first outdoor map named Maple Lodge Campsite. It is a medium sized map that features picnic areas, outdoor games, multiple tents, a log cabin and a haunted lake. Kinetic say that this map will also feature many unique objects and improved detail, which will be incorporated into other maps in a subsequent patch.
Weather conditions have been added in order to make each mission feel more unique and add new layers of gameplay. For example a heavy fog will reduce overall visibility, resulting in a more challenging hunt. Changes in temperature may interfere with your thermometer, again making your odds of discovering the ghost type more unfavourable.
The full list of weather conditions are: Clear Skies, Fog, Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Strong Wind and Light Snow.
Difficulty levels have also been reworked, in order to distinguish each difficulty and allow it to feel unique from the others. The hunter levels are amateur, intermediate and professional, with the higher difficulties seemingly requiring players to employ better use of items and expert game knowledge.
It seems that four new ghost types have been added in this update, with an increased chance to spawn during the Halloween game event. Those ghosts are Onryo, The Twins, Obake and Raiju.
We personally all love a good horror game (except maybe Jez) and recently played Phasmophobia on our 12 hour Twitch livestream to celebrate All Maverick’s first birthday. Watch all the best bits from that stream below- fair warning it gets a bit hot and saucy at times. And no I don’t mean hot sauce.
