It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…..very cheaply made on-rails shooter being sold at full retail price?….oh….I would have preferred a bird personally.
That’s right, ahead of the new movie being released next year, DC Comics have announced a video game tie-in game for DC League Of Super Pets and it….already looks like it needs to be put down.
For those unaware, Krypto the Super-Dog is Superman’s trusty canine companion who has more or less the same super-powers, including the ability to have very bad-looking videogames made after him. Well, in all fairness, we can’t judge a game that hasn’t yet come out, but if you’d care to look at the trailer below, you might be able to see why we aren’t too convinced…
While barely showing us any footage at all, what we can see is a very bare-bones and boring-looking on-rails shooter with graphics processed on a potatoe.
This is of course no surprise as it takes one quick look to see that this game is being made by the infamous Outright Games; infamous for other loathed movie tie-in games such as The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem and Jumanji: The Video Game.

As the name implies, League Of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace will also star Batman’s 4-legged furry friend, Ace the Bat-hound, though it is unknown if he is playable. Either way, the fact that only Krypto and Ace are highlighted in the title implies that we may sadly not see a playable form of everyone’s favourite super pet; Topo the Octopus…

The game was announced last weekend during the DC FanDome 2021 amongst other DC news, including the first trailer for Robert Patterson’s The Batman, which somehow looks less bleak than this game’s inevitable Metacritic score.
As unimpressive as the game looks, it was not at least without its fun easter eggs. The Green and Purple colour scheme of the robots implies the handiwork of Lex Luthor, and it even seems that Two-Face had opened up his own ice cream parlor…because…that’s…a reference to…..no sorry I got nothing.

It is currently unknown whether the game will feature the same star-studded cast as the upcoming movie; which includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Keanu Reeves, but either way, this game is giving us nothing but nauseating nostalgia for the mid 00’s when cheap terrible movie licensed videogames were all you could see.
The game is set to launch in Spring 2022 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC, so hey, at least the kids will be disappointed long before Christmas.
Will you be subjecting yourself to the woofing woes of the Krypto videogame? Do you think we’re barking up the wrong tree and that it could actually be a solid kid’s title? Either way, throw us a bone and let us know in the comments.
