Just when we thought video games had already made everything scary, (the woods, cuddly animatronics, hospitals, Dolls, Tall Women in hats) game developer Two Star Games has now given us one more thing to be afraid of; a demented train with spider legs.
Choo-Choo Charles is an upcoming survival horror game with a genuinely frightening concept. You are trying to survive in a local village whilst Charles, a giant sentient spider-train with a taste for human flesh hunts you down. Your only option is to complete missions for townsfolk and scavenge for scraps in order to build and upgrade your own train and to kill Charles before he kills you.
Imagine The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks meets Resident Evil: Nemesis meets Thomas the Tank Engine. We aren’t sure what it is about it; the deafening sound of an engine running frantically towards you, the twisted resemblance to a beloved Children’s character, or just the added dose of arachnophobia, but either way, Charles is a truly terrifying creature that we’re going to take great pleasure in trying to shoot down.
Through completing missions, you can upgrade your own train’s defenses, mobility, and weaponry, including a mounted machine gun which you can use to shoot the loathsome locomotive down.

It shouldn’t come as much surprise that we now have a train-based horror game. After all, after a decade of Thomas the Tank Engine video game mods, including one for the recent Resident Evil 8, it was only a matter of time until we got a full game dedicated to the concept.
Having had a viral tweet last Friday, Two Star Games’ seems to have captured the attention of all horror lovers this spooky season, however, the game won’t be released until the first quarter of 2022 on Steam. While we wait though, Two Star Games has 3 free horror games on Steam that you can play right now: Cloud Climber, My Friend is a Raven, and Night in Riverager.

We don’t know whether to be full of excitement or dread for this game to be released. With a monster that is literally powered by nightmare fuel, we think we might have to start taking the bus from now on…
