Spidey fans rejoice as Sony officially reveals Peter Parker will return to the big screens on December 17th. Several hours after the trailer was leaked online playing through someone’s smartphone, Spider-Man himself Tom Holland took to his Instagram Stories yesterday with a cryptic message for fans: “You ain’t ready!” he wrote.

In the face of Holland’s statement however, Sony Pictures clearly had other plans and released the teaser trailer earlier today. It is already number 1 on the YouTube trending page and, as of right now, has amassed over 28 million views with no signs of slowing.
For those who haven’t heard, Spider-Man: No Way Home is an upcoming action superhero film directed by Jon Watts. In the film, Dr. Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) informs Peter Parker/Spider-Man of a break in the Multiverse, resulting in villains from other worlds entering into their own. This latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be set ahead of the events of it’s prequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
As mentioned before, actor Tom Holland will be playing the lead role of Spider-Man. Previous Spider-Man movies saw Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire take the part. Actress Zendaya will reprise her role playing MJ who is Michelle Jones; a nod to the earlier Mary Jane character who had appeared as Spider-Man’s love interest. Furthermore, we will see at least two supervillains from earlier movies return in the form of Doctor Octopus (played by Alfred Molina) as well as Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

The film will also feature appearances from Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, J.B. Smoove as Julius Dell, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Angourie Rice as Betty Brant, and Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson.
