First images revealed for Live-action Cowboy Bebop

(L to R) John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Danielle Pineda as Faye Valentine and Ein the Dog

We’ve known for a while that a live-action adaptation of the popular sci-fi neo-noir anime Cowboy Bebop was on the horizon, but now Netflix has not only revealed its premiere date but the 1st set of images from the upcoming series.

The series has been revealed to be premiering on November 19th, and will star John Cho as Spike Spiegal, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Danielle Pineda as Faye Valentine and….a dog as….Ein the dog!

So far the character’s outfits have been a mix of being faithful to the source material (as is the case for Spike) and being more modernised for others (specifically for Faye, as she’s now lost the lingerie in favour of clothes that a normal human would wear).

The original Cowboy Bebop was an anime about a group of bounty hunters living in the year 2071, hunting down criminals and chasing down enormous cash rewards. The anime originally ran for 26 episodes in 1998 before receiving an English dub, and was in fact the first anime to ever be shown on Adult Swim in the United States.

The series received a movie in 2001 and has since been a massive pop-cultural hit in both Japan and the West, so a live-action remake was somewhat inevitable.

This new series will be airing on Netflix in November 2021 and will even feature new music from the anime’s original composer Yoko Kanno.

Are you excited for the new Cowboy Bebop? What do you think of the new costume designs for the characters? Let us know in the comments!

We’re already excited after looking at these tasty pics!
