The Eternals arrived on Earth thousands of years before the present day, observing and assisting humankind for many years. That is, before something sent them away into solitude. Now a world-ending threat has arisen and forced them to regroup in order to save the planet.
Fans were first teased with an Eternals trailer back in late May this year, giving them a sneak peak at these impressive entrants to the MCU – establishing their roles in the current story. Now the final trailer for the film reveals the Deviants who are ancient enemies of the Eternals, as well as the Celestials, mysterious and powerful elder beings and creators of both Eternals and Deviants.
The movie was officially announced in July 2019 with filming commencing earlier the same year. It is directed by Oscar-award winning director Chloé Zhao who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Patrick Burleigh and Ryan Firpo. The film story was written by Ryan Firpo and his cousin, Matthew K. Firpo.

Gemma Chan will play Sersi, an Eternal who is able to manipulate matter. Ikaris is played by Richard Madden who in the trailer is revealed to have a romantic connection with Sersi. That is, until she meets Dane Whitman – who is played by Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington. Salma Hayek plays the leader of the Eternals named Ajak, who in the comics was originally male but has been cast as female in the film.
Thena is played by Angelina Jolie, a warrior goddess who is shown in the first trailer to possess a sword crafted from pure light. In total there are ten of The Eternals – with Harington’s character aka the Black Knight not actually being an Eternal. The others are Kingo who is played by Kumail Nanjiani, Phastos played by Brian Tyree Henry and Makkari by Lauren Ridloff. Sprite is played by Lia McHugh, then Druig by Barry Keoghan. Gilgamesh is played by Ma Dong-seok.
Why didn’t you guys help fight Thanos?

We were instructed not to interfere in any human conflicts unless Deviants were involved.
