During the San Diego Comic-Con, Dragon Ball Super received a short teaser for its 2nd anime film, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero which will serve as a follow-up to the 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Dragon Ball Super started off as manga and TV series in 2015, serving as a sequel series to the original Dragon Ball manga which ran from 1984 to 1995.
While it’s only the 2nd Dragon Ball Super movie, it will be the 21st film overall within the Dragon Ball franchise. The film is slated for release in Japan in 2022. Hopefully, international screenings can be expected to release later within the same year.
The teaser is only a mere 22 seconds long and simply shows a CG Goku kicking the air and striking a pose. It is currently unknown whether the entire film will be CG as this animation style may just be for trailer materials. Toei Animation similarly released a teaser for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods in 2012 that was also CG despite the fact that the film was not.
However, in the more recent Dragon Ball films, Toei animation has included CG battle segments that mix in with the traditional animation, in some cases in very prominent ways in both Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super: Broly. It’ll be intriguing nonetheless to see whether this new film could be the first Dragon Ball movie to be entirely CG animated.
In any case, the cast and crew are very enthusiastic about the film. Goku voice actress Masako Nozawa is especially excited as she stated at the Dragon Ball Special Panel at comic-con.
I’m sure you’re all bursting with excitement waiting for the Dragon Ball movie! I’m certain that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will more than live up to everyone’s expectations! The Super Hero subtitle is pretty cool, right? I love how simple and straight-to-the-point it is! The new characters designed by Toriyama don’t quite look like anyone we’ve seen before. They’ve got a great sense of style! Looking slick wearing boots, they’re definitely a unique addition to Dragon Ball, and I can’t wait to see what they can do! It’s one of those amazing movies where, after you finish watching it, you and your friends and family can all talk about the details and about what parts you liked best! I can’t wait to hear all of your impressions of the movie!
